Staff Profile

HELLO!

I am so excited about the start of another great school year at Highland Park Elementary School.

Here's a little bit about me:

This is my 11th year at Highland Park, but my 18th year in 2nd grade at SPPS.

I realized I wanted to be an elementary teacher when I was a senior in high school and I took a class that placed me in a 3rd grade classroom. I instantly fell in love with the process of helping young learners discover more about the world around them. 

I love camping! I am an Eagle scout and spent 12 years of my life camping at least once a month, every month...even in the winter.... even when it was -40!

I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a minor in Science education for grades K-8. I returned to the University of Minnesota to complete my Masters Degree in Elementary education and also earned a Masters certificate in Urban Education from Hamline University. 

During the summer I am either working on home projects or driving around the country. I have visited 49 states (Louisiana is my last state to visit) and 8 territories of Canada. I also spend most of my summers doing Daddy Daycare for my son Marco and daughter Paloma . We like to go to the Minnesota Zoo, bike rides along the river and playing at the parks. This past summer we took a month long road trip to Alaska to visit friends and family

I am looking forward to another great year in 2nd grade!
