Hello, I’m Jenni Blat! I’ve been teaching 2nd grade in St. Paul for over a quarter of a century. This is the second time that I have taught a split class of 2nd and 3rd graders. I attended St. Paul Schools and graduated from St. Paul Central in 1990. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. While at Penn State I was on the fencing team and we won 4 National Championships. I earned my Masters of Science from Bemidji State University. I am currently working on the Docctorate in Educational Leadership through Concordia University - St. Paul. I live in Roseville with my husband Bob, who is a 4th grade teacher at Battle Creek Elementary in St. Paul, my 17 year old, Owen who is a Senior, Sydni who is 16 years old and a Junior, they both attend Highland Senior High. We have 2 dogs, Rocket a yellow lab and Tuzi and Chihuahua, and are permanently hosting my mother-in-law’s dogs Gracie and Gigi whom are Mi-kis. While not at school I enjoy reading, thrifting, running Ragnars and spending time with my family.
AstroBlat's Bulletin Daily Newsletters
Learning goals, homework and thoughts from our day is e-mailed home daily in AstroBlat's Bulletin. Information regarding events and reminders will be in our monthly newsletter, which is emailed to you. I will also use email to send out updates and important announcements as needed, so please make sure I have a working email address for you.
Classroom Management Plan
I ask all of my students to treat each other with respect. I reward good behavior and provide consequences for poor behavior.
If a student's behavior does not follow our essential agreement, they will be given several verbal reminders. If another behavior occurs, they will take a break at their desk or calming corner to think about how they can change their behavior to follow our essential agreement. If the behavior continues, the learner will take a break and reflect on a reflection form. . If your learner stays on task the entire day, they will earn a Blat's Buck in their planner to signify that they had a great day. Students may spend their earned money on prizes.
