Our Principal

Hello, families! My name is Matt Severns, and I am proud to be the principal at Highland Park Elementary. This is my third year a Highland Park Elementary, and I've got to say that it is an amazing place to be. We've got great students, great families, and great staff who make it the wonderful school that it is. I am drawn to education because I believe that growth is always important, and that growth is perhaps nowhere better seen than during the elementary years. 

A little about me: I have been in education for more than ten years. During this time, I've taught high school English, I've coached, I've coordinated a college readiness program, I've served as an assistant principal at one of our district's middle schools, and I supported the launch of our district's online elementary program. I've got two young kids at home who are getting ready for school themselves, and I like to cook in my free time.
