Welcome to Highland Park Elementary IB World School
Nestled in the charming Highland Park neighborhood, we offer an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. Our distinctive IB program uses a student-centered framework, encouraging scholars to take charge of their own learning journey.

Taking Action
Taking Action is an essential element of the International Baccalaureate's (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). It's a way our students to apply their knowledge and skills, show understanding, and make a positive change. They do this through participation, advocacy, social justice, social entrepreneurship, and lifestyle choices.
Strong Community Involvement
Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration between parents and educators, enhancing the educational experience for our students. By organizing events, fundraising for school resources, and advocating for policies that benefit our children, our partnership significantly strengthens our school community and enriches student learning opportunities.

We’re a school of approximately 450 students, located in the beautiful Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul. As a magnet school for Areas D and F, we welcome all our students and love our diverse community of learners. The size of our school allows us to give students true personal attention while bringing a global perspective to education with the IB-PYP curriculum.

At Highland Park Elementary IB World School, we organize our teaching and learning around six global themes that incorporate all the different subject areas, the Minnesota State Standards, and the Saint Paul Schools scope and sequence. We create units of inquiry that explore big ideas and concepts that are relevant and global. The students learn and acquire knowledge by asking questions, observing, investigating, and researching.

The small size of our school makes room for lots of personal attention, and we take warm interest and pride in our students.
Our entire school staff takes pride in promoting the success of each student, and provides all students with opportunities to see themselves as members of a local, national, and global community.
We encourage international-mindedness by empowering students to take action and to become lifelong learners through collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking.
Our enrichment activities include band, choir, theater, dance, Lego League, Girls on the Run and EDL.
