Students should read every night for 15+ minutes toward SPPS Reading Volumes! Program.  Record books on a Reading Log of book titles (use any paper).  Complete at least 8 of the following activities during November:

1. Our current PYP unit is called School as a Workplace. Make at least 5 words using the underlined letters.  Write sentences using your new words.

 

2. Make a list of people who live at your house. For each person, list the jobs they do at home. Include yourself!

 

3. Our next PYP units will be Families.  Interview a family member you don't see often about a memory they have of you. Write down or draw their story---they can help you!

 

4. Interview a family member about what 1st grade was like for them.  Make a Venn diagram of your two experiences in 1st grade.

 

5. Practice writing your full name, address, phone number, and an emergency phone number.  Use beautiful handwriting!

 

6.  Practice telling time to the hour and half-hour. If you are able to, tell time to the quarter-hour and minute too.

 

7. Choose four things you do each day (get up, leave for school, eat, etc.). Draw a picture of each, then draw a clock showing the time. Use analog clocks (clocks with hands).

 

8. Add 10 combinations of pennies, nickels (Optional: dimes, too). Take a small handful of coins, draw them, then write how much the coins are worth. Example: N   N   P   P   P   = 13 cents

 

9. Write number stories using coins. Example: Sam had 6 cents in his pocket. He also had a hole in his pocket! When he got home, he only had 2 cents. How much money did he lose?

 

10. Practice reading, spelling, and writing word wall words.  Find words with Word Wall words in them, like wither, outside, nearby

 

11. Make a list of rhyming words or pictures. How far can you go?

 

12. Decorate the Turkey using your imagination and creativity.  Please return this homework activity SOON for display.

 

SEND AT LEAST 1 HOMEWORK PROJECT TO SCHOOL WITH THIS SHEET!

OPTIONAL CHOICES:  1) Design your own home activity.  Record on the back. 

2)  Complete a Homework Choice more than once.  Count each time.
