Highland Park Elementary is a part of the Primary Years Programme, as designated by the prestigious International Baccalaureate organization. This means our students think and act globally as they inquire, explore issues hands-on, reflect, and take action to solve problems. The small size of our school offers opportunities for lots of personal attention, and our teachers take warm interest and pride in their students. We offer specialized coursework for all students in Chinese, science, art, and physical education. Our artists-in-residence programs inspire students in the visual and performing arts. Other enrichment activities include band, choir, theater, dance, Lego League, Lego Robotics, running club, DestiNation Imagination, and special-interest research teams and clubs. Learn more...

Big-World Focus with Small-School Attention

Family Involvement

We’re proud to have an active Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chapter, which supports our school in many ways – including fundraising, sponsoring a variety of events and supporting our curriculum with arts opportunities through residency programs, field trips and classroom activities.

Primary Years Programme

Our School was authorized in 2003 as an official  Primary Years Program (PYP) school by the International Baccalaureate Organization. We were the first school in the Midwest to receive this prestigious designation at the elementary level.

Specialized Learning

All students receive specialized coursework in Chinese, Science and Physical Education. We have a full-time Gifted Services specialist who offers hands-on classroom support for students who need additional challenges in the core subjects of Reading, Writing and Math.
